Happy Thanksgiving

To all clients of the Law Office, to family, to friends and to esteemed colleagues in the Bar, please enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving and be safe.

Many drivers around you will be overtired, exhausted, stressed out about family, work, money, health or their children’s welfare. Some will be tipsy and some will be driving home when they shouldn’t because that’s the only way that they get to have both a Thanksgiving holiday and a job on Friday morning.

Some will drive when they ate too much and are drowsy. Some will be alcoholics or drug addicts trying hard not to drink or use with the family and friends they used to drink or use with; they may be a bit distracted because their AA/NA sponsor two states away is coping with the same challenge. Some will be miserable behind because their sweetheart broke up with them 6 weeks ago and this holiday just stinks. Some will be distracted because they know that this will be the last Thanksgiving at which they will see a loved one.

You will be surrounded by nothing but imperfect, probably distracted drivers for MILES; it’s not “over the river and through the woods” so much as Over-/Under-Caffeinated Moron Slalom. Be patient and if you aren’t safe to drive, get a room or a rest stop to sleep it off. A motel is cheaper than bail, an ER copay, an insurance deductible or my firm’s retainer. Take care.
